So I bought the blade trilogy with the 1st(and only) season of the tv show a while back. So today I decided to watch blade 3 to see if it is as bad as i remembered. It is still on, I stopped watching in disgust some time back. The acting is horrendous, what excuse they have for a regurgitated plot is vile. It seems to be more of an ad for I-pods and music sound tracks than an actual move. It is just so painful you can hardly believe it made it out of production. Wesley Snipes looks tubby in his little armor thing, they have a blind computer/biology genus, the main vampire acts like some kind of fruit, PAINFUL. How can a series that started so good end so bad, the series is much better than this movie, the second one looks like a masterpiece in comparison. Now it is ending BLAH BLAH BLAH something about being gay, Sunrise…………people trying to look serious…………………………………..cops show up…………………………..Blade is in the hospital, ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh look at his tattoos, but he is angry, pushing the doctors around, bad music starts and the credits. O YOUR GOD!

I have decided to no longer be turked by a certain syphilitic bear. It all started last fall, the summer had come and gone , the leafs changing color, a noticeable chill in the morning air. That is when we met, at first it was so good, we understood each other and we had so much fun. Before I knew it I was falling head over heels, their was not a second that when by that i didn’t think about our games, and the fun. I played more and more and more. All of the sudden their were adds that kept appearing while we were together, i took no notice at first. Then their was more , and more and more. Too late i realized i was being used, and abused. Our innocent fun was actually the first hit, to get me hooked then it got bad and i just did not know it. So I decided to go cold turkey and say “FUCK YOU” to the makers of war book who are too absorbed with greed to realize that they are FUCKING THEMSELVES IN THE GOD DAMN ASS by ruining a game that all could enjoy. A little advertising is ok, I realize that it is not making any revenue off us otherwise, but their is a limit and it was just crossed.

Have you tried the new diamond shreddies? They are awesome! I had my first bowl today, and wow, I am not sure what they changed, but the flavor sensation is just amazing. I think the new design holds milk and sugar in a precises ratio that maximizes the wheat flavor of the shreddie!
Viva Diamond Shreddie revolution, I just hope it doesn’t die off like new coke.

Seems a lot of people thought this week would be a good week to get on facebook. Odd, but who am I to judge? Well I am god…
Anyway having used facebook for all of one week I can say, while it does have its annoyances, but it is superior to myspace. It doesn’t suffer from the my first webpage that myspace seems to run into. Whats that some text behind all those animated gifs? For shame, everyone knows text is useless when tying to write.
In closing, Weird Al, Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota, Best song? I think so, what do you think?

Well, I’ve just added two companies to my “list of perpetual ignorage”.
I can’t stomach the way that CCP has dealt with it’s customer base over the entire t20 cheating scandal, although shockingly it isn’t particularly different than how they have handled things in the past, when I look at it. Perhaps I just needed something big enough for me to sit up and say “Wow. That is so not cool.”
Extremely unfortunately, that means that White Wolf gets added to the pile as well, thanks to their merger with CCP. Which is too bad, because I really like their systems, and they have in no way annoyed me, other than their merger with CCP.
For anyone thinking of playing EVE Online, I urge you to reconsider. There are any number of things that are wrong with the game, and I could go into an exhaustive list, but I will not bore you. The thing that matters most is that if you really want to feel like a completely contemptible human being that is not deserving of honesty or attention, then go to a 24-hour convenience store and take a really, really long time to pay (count those pennies!) right before the poor clerk’s break, so that you are actually eating into their break. Afterwards, voila! You have just dealt with CCP, only it was short — it doesn’t drag on and on — and best of all you don’t have a subscription to that convenience store or clerk. You can go to another one, elsewhere.
It was probably also cheaper, and you have something to show for it.

While I hold no ill will towards the tech that asked this, I still understand why he asked it. I might just be a crazy user after all…
[I have edited this email to remove names and companies and some extra stuff]
I sent this to the tech in charge of the firewalls
> —–Original Message—–
> Subject: Firewall
>
> The firewall is making noise, its the fan. Not sure if we have
> replacements or not.
He sent this to the company
> Subject: FW: Firewall
>
> Hi,,
>
> Need to ask are the fans covered in the Firewalls?
The Sale Rep response
> Hey,
>
> Absolutely, your hardware support covers any product deficiencies. We will
> need to open a case with TAC, they will determine that the unit needs RMA
> and away we go. The challenge …. it is a return and replace coverage,
> which means you will need to return the defective and they will send the
> replacement. Do you have a spare? If not, I believe we have one in our
> office.
>
> Can you send me the serial number of the device.
>
> Thanks.
Then this came… Probably from TAC…
> Support is asking me to ‘elaborate’ on the noise. Their exact response to
> me is that “it is not uncommon for fans to be audible in units that support
> them” ….. did you ever feel like jumping out of your computer and punching
> the tech support on the other end????? Man, sometimes these support guys
> get on my nerves!!! But I keep smiling.
>
So I was sent this:
> LOL that is exactly how I feel about Tech support, I will ask the
> tech that told me but it sounds like it’s a bad fan rattling not a “normal”
> fan noise.
>
> Roger is that accurate?
To which I replied…
It was louder and off pitch, which made it noticeably more noisy than the two switches and four servers that were in the room. It had a subtle whiney grinding noise to it, that at regular intervals raised and decreased in volume, like a car trying to turn over. While the fan is still spinning it sounds like its fighting for every rotation.
I may not know much, but I have learned in my years as a tech, that users hate noisey fans! I also know that if I hear a grinding noise in the server room I investigate Noisey fans and finedining is all I know…

Happy New Year, and welcome to 2007.
In this new year, don’t be beholden to the old ways of spreading files around. No longer is it necessary to deal with those archaic torrent files! Be a part of the future, and sign up for usenet.
/sarcasm
This was predicted a long time ago by someone I know — I wasn’t sure if he was right, but a company using “usenet” and “Next Generation Downloading” on their front page in late 2006/early 2007 has just proven me wrong… and it’s crazy enough to make me tag this A Room with a Moose.
Andrew, I owe you a drink.

So… I play World of Warcraft on both my laptop and on my desktop. I want something to keep the addons and settings in-sync (particularly Auctioneer and Outfitter data)… I’d been contemplating setting up a Subversion repository to hold the data (`svn up` before play, `svn commit –message=”I like cheese.”` after play) but I thought that’d be a bit like stomping on an anthill with a meteorite. As well, the Auctioneer data can get a bit big, and I didn’t particularly want the expense of committing it whenever I closed World of Warcraft down.
Thus I opted for something a bit lighter-weight. I shared out my World of Warcraft directory from my desktop, and then considered how to auto-pull the data from the desktop to the laptop when it was available (and push it back when complete).
Silly me, I opted to try using AppleScript, as I really never had a chance to play with the language before. It should be easy, though, right?
Infuriatingly easy.
… Right?
I managed to get the Mac laptop to mount the Windows SMB share in about 10 minutes of toodling about; and I figured with that the hard part was over. I mean, after that (and it was fancy, too! If it was already mounted it didn’t try again, and it caught mount failures properly and errored out.) all that was left was to:
- Copy files from the share to the local World of Warcraft directory before launching World of Warcraft.
- After World of Warcraft terminated, update the files on the share with those from the local copy.
These here (for any of you out there who don’t happen to be programmers) are trivial points.
I couldn’t get it to work. Three and a half hours later, here I sit — the AppleScript thrown out the window and very little chance remaining I’ll ever try to do anything with the language again. I mean, what is the right response, when all you can get out of the language is messages like “Can’t make class cfol of application System Events into the expected type.” and “Can’t make some [sic] data into the expected type.” and finally “Can’t make some [sic] data into the expected type file alias.”
It shouldn’t be any more than:
duplicate sourceFile to destinationFolder
… which is what all the examples that I can find display. None of them mention “class cfol” or “some data” error messages. I have no doubt I’m missing something stupid (I’m wondering if it has to do with the source folder being on an SMB share? But that doesn’t make any sense, because what is the sense of the abstraction done by the OS if a scripter has to worry about such things?), but Apple has thoroughly outsmarted me. I haven’t a clue what it is.
Nor will I ever. I’ll leave AppleScript to whomever Apple has targetted it at (Soccer Moms? Grand-Parents? Geriatric Patients?) and stick with BASH.
At least then there’s a good ol’ `cp` command that doesn’t screw around and just lets me copy a file (-f for overwrite, even! The future is here, today!).
Yeah, yeah, call me a quitter if you like. I admit it… I’ve got a dread fear that cfol will delete my home directory if I push it too far.

As Remi mentioned, he and I were incredibly lazy in Bangkok. It was great!
Mom and Dad however… well, they basically hit all of the big sites, including:
The Grand Palace - with both demon and monkey guardians
Wat Arun - the Temple of Dawn
Wat Pho - the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (and its temple mascot - a kitty eating rice)
Dusit Palace
Vimanmek Mansion
Red Teak House
There are more pictures of all of these places in the gallery.
They also went to the Bangkok National Museum, where they learned that Ganesha is the god of knowledge. And in order to ensure that knowledge survives, he seeks out and destroys ignorance - hence the skulls on the bottom of his throne.
What a great god!
While Mom and Dad were sight-seeing, Remi and I shopped, relaxed, watched James Bond movies (which were on all the time), and basically just hung out.
Mom and I worked fittings into our schedule, as we both got a bunch of clothes made at King’s International Tailors on Kaosarn Road - from Papa Jim.
Mom and I also inspected various food vendors, although I only bought mango and sticky rice (mmmm!), not the other… delicacies.
Mom did manage to get friendly with Ronald though. She really likes fast food iconic statues.
Bright and early Sunday morning, we all got up, grabbed our luggage (with the addition of a couple of bags and boxes from all the stuff we had purchased), and caught our flights back to Canada. That was the end of our latest family adventure.
