The Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift
Posted by: Remi in You Watched it, you can't Unwatch it!It’s weird… when I heard about this movie, I initially had a small amount of hope. I can hear the howls of “What?!?” already, so allow me to explain. A year or two ago, I heard that they were making a live-action version of Initial D, and though I was somewhat (shall we say) non-plussed by some of the rumoured changes (i.e. character names, etc.) I was still pretty eager to see it… I rather like a large portion of Initial D… so when I saw the first preview for The Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift I was sort of thinking that maybe this was it, or Initial D had been cancelled (as I haven’t heard about it since) and thus they had made this instead.
Just to be clear: this movie is nothing like Initial D, and what’s more, it’s what I had in mind when I named this category. It’s a travesty. There’s one line that is rather amusing (about three minutes into the movie), and it just goes downhill from there. Went to it for free (had one of those pre-release passes), but even then it was too expensive, in terms of pure negative-enjoyment (sort of like negative-work) adding up — I think I am still “working off” having seen this movie by playing Super Mario Bros and EVE and just generally trying to have fun.

This was my take, even though I didn’t see it:
The Fast and the Furious: Care-A-Lot Drift
Human: “Its called drifting”
Three Fast Three Furious Bear: “What do you mean drifting?”
Human: “The tires are lighter, and slick. When you drift your going outta control, in control.”
Cheer Bear: “Hello cloud cars can fly?”
Announcer: “Above the world, on the wrong side of caring. A new style of racing rules the Care-a-lot underground.”
Random scenes of Cloud Cars, Sports Cars and Rainbow Rollers, racing, stunting and crashing.
Announcer: “In a world that moves this fast…”
Three Fast Three Furious Bear: “Thats a lot of money.”
Human: “Your moving up in the world, its time to elevate your company.”
Cheer Bear: “I like everyone.”
Announcer: “The bigger the risk, the greater the rush.”
Three Fast Three Furious Bear: “All my life I felt like I didn’t fit in, maybe I was just in the wrong place”
Champ Bear: “I love you 6F.”
Three Fast Three Furious Bear: “You love everyone who wins, what happens when I lose?”
This summer the Care bear stare will be a radar detector…
The Fast And The Furious: Care-a-lot Drift
Summer… maybe.
Shrieky: “Beastly what are you doing!”
Beastly: “I’m pimpin’ our flying bike! yuck yuck yuck”
Shrieky: “BEASTLY!”
fade out

My favorite thing about Rog’s story is I hadn’t even heard they were doing another Fast and the Furious (I just assumed they’d killed everyone involved in the first two on humanitarian grounds), and I thought this story was just a random joke. Then I went to see X-Men later that day. It made the preview pretty damn funny!

Hehe. Nah it didn’t. The way this works is that unknown/non-approved people cannot post immediately — they post and then the post has to be ‘approved’. Once a post from a person is approved, then the next time that person posts it is immediately approved (i.e. the person is then on a whitelist).

Actually, you know what? I forgot what might be the best part of Tokyo Drift. They had a noticeable song by Shonen Knife in it. I like Shonen Knife.
